Okay. Remember my previous entry where I said that at the events leading up to the start of school not everyone was quite relaxed? Well, let me tell you: that has certainly changed. Yea, in a major way.
Orientation had a lot to do with this change...it was 4 days of well-coordinated social and other events in and around CBS that did it. Everyone really just chilled when the enormity of what was transpiring hit home. We were all in it together.
What was surprising to note was that most people didn't seem to think much of what they'd accomplished; it took someone else asking about our personal and professional lives for most of us to see how much we'd done and how far we'd come. This was definitely the case for a lot of students I met.
And yes, there were lots of opportunities to drink during Orientation...that's not just a myth. We also got to attend and participate in interesting panels, ask questions and really learn alot about the vast resources available at CBS. We were assigned to clusters and study groups...somehow it worked out that none of the people I met before Orientation wound up in my cluster. This is fantastic, though...it just means I have to get to know an additional 60 people. We all had ample opp to get to know one another in various relaxed settings. Overall, my first week was excellent, and I can't wait for what's next.
