Last entry

Hi, everyone!

You read correctly - this is to be my last entry. I have just arrived from Russia and am exhausted. It was definitely a lot of fun along with being an educational experience. This is one of the perks of attending b-school fulltime: you're able to travel with classmates and understand how businesses operate in other countries as the school subsidizes a portion of the cost and you have time to travel between semesters.

I know a lot of people in business school definitely take advantage of such travel programs and I am one of those people who will highly recommend it. Some of my unfortunate classmates start their internships today or tomorrow and will be tired for the start of work. I intend to get a whole lot of rest and catch up with friends and family before I start work at the end of this month.

Most companies seem to do an exhaustive background check in addition to a drug test. My classmates are all probably used to this, but having only worked at smaller firms, I find it interesting. I have filled out an unbelievable amount of paperwork for my summer employer and am setting a date to do the drug screening. I have already gotten in touch with alums who currently work for my summer employer and am glad to know that I have a family already in place there.

I want to say "best of luck" to those of you who are waitlisted or who are working on b-school applications for next year. My advice to all:
1.work hard to get the best GMAT score you can and move on - it's only one part of your overall application
2.know why you want to go back to school AND how the school will help you attain your goals
3.get to know students at the school and make sure you meet persons involved in the admissions process. attend all prospective student events that you can.
4.APPLY EARLY

Shadan has given his perspectives on being a second year at CBS and I will not have much that is different to add; I feel that it is a good time to create some space for a new voice on the website.
Best of luck to all. Congrats to KD on her acceptance to an MPA program. Feel free to contact me with questions and I will be sure to get back to you.

Be well!
