Summer 2004 Wrap-Up

It been a long time, but I'm back! My summer internship at Sallie Mae in Reston, VA ended on Aug. 13 on a high note with a presentation of a marketing plan to migrate customers from offline payment methods to online payment methods and the possibility of future employment. After wrapping things up and saying goodbye to everyone I met and worked closely with in the Reston office, I returned to my temporary quarters on 6th Street in southwest D.C. to continue packing.

I remained in D.C. until Aug. 19th, day I flew to Madrid to attend my nephew's baptism (my younger sister, brother-in-law and the new baby live in the outskirts of Madrid) and to enjoy some well-deserved time off with other family members as well.

Following the baptism weekend, we spend the next week traveling by car to nearby cities like Burgos, Toledo and Calatayud. If there is one thing that I love about Spain is the incredible diversity of cities. All cities and towns have something different and unique to offer, and the possibilities are endless. No matter how many times I have traveled to Spain (about eight times since 1989), there are always places to see and new experienced to be had.

My trip to Spain was originally planned to last until Sept. 3, but was unexpectedly cut short (my boyfried, a securities and banking attorney was asked to return to the U.S. for a meeting with one of his clients and the NASD). We both returned to the U.S. on Aug. 30, he to Atlanta and I to Puerto Rico. Relaxing at my mother's apartment and spending more quality time with her were a blessing. And since all good things must come to an end, at the end of that week I returned to St. Louis to get started on my second and final year of my MBA.

Next time I'll tell you all about weeks one and two. Until next time.
