Halfway

Okay,

So the summer is halfway over and I haven't given you guys any updates. Sorry!!! (Sorry MBADIVERISTY) :-) Things are going well, I don't remember the information that I left you guys with last time, but since then here are some of the highlights (and lowlights)

I'm at L'Oreal !!!!

Defnite highlight. I'm doing Global Marketing for Redken 5th Ave NYC. It's a hair care line for all the straight guys out there who (like me) didn't know what the hell Redken is.
It's great, Global Marketing here at L'Oreal essentially handles product development, from conception to implementation. So we come up with the products, give them their identities and then choose their look, along with which models will represent them, it's an amazing process.

I have to say by far that the best part has been the model calls. You haven't lived until you've walked off the elevator to go to your office and you see 50 women sitting around waiting to show why they're the right one :-) A close second was doing a video shoot. Really interesting to be behind the scenes and seeing everything that goes into it.

I've worked on some great projects. I essentially began by doing market research on a new potential segment of the business. That then turned into me conceptualizing a product line for Redken, developing the positioning statements, and next week we meet with our scientists to see about what we can and can't claim. After that we'll develop the marketing charters and then that's the begining of the product creation process. It's great to see the product creation process from step one, and it's also great to know that when I see these products on the shelf that I'll know they came from my mind :-)

ok, so my grand mother had a heart attack, I believe I updated you on that. She was supposed to go have a stent put in place. Again, for those (like me) who have no idea what a stent is, its basically a piece of mesh that they put into your artery, they then put a balloon inside the mesh and inflate it...the balloon opens the stent which pushes back the artery walls and unclogs it.

So they do some exploring and find out that they can't do a stent because she has 5, yes 5 blocked arteries. Instead they do a qintuple (is that 5?) bypass, I'd like to say the surgery went extremely well and my grandmother is up and around, feeling much much better.

For all those keeping my sister in their prayers, I want to say thanks. I appreciate it and so doesn't she. For anyone who has dealt with something like this you know it's a daily struggle, some days are better than others. She's a trooper though do she's definitely doing her thing. She actually just got her own place so I'm proud of her. She's growing up :-)

Ok, that's it for now, I promise the next one won't take as long as this one did!

later, for now.

Yup.

I figured you were having a bit too much fun at L'oreal and, consequently, gave no luv to your blog for almost 2 months.

Are you really that blown away by some models. Just remember, beauty is fleeting...

Glad to have you back...

Be good.

K-boogie.

...and btw, glad your sister is doing well, although we didn't know about your Grandmom.

We'll add her to our prayer list.

Model calls at your internship? And, I'm actually thinking of going into consulting...shoot, I think I need to switch over to marketing for cosmetics companies. BIG PIMPIN'! ;-)

It's good to hear that your grandmother is doing well after her surgery and I'm still pulling for your sister. Stay up, blackman.
